{ LOCATION }

Each session starts with a vision- of who you are as a family, couple, etc. I strive to tell your story through photographs. Therefore we will work together to find a session location that suits your  personality and style.  Sessions can be held at your home or an agreed upon location nearby. I use natural light only. If the weather is comfortable outside, your session can be held in an area of your yard or at a favorite park or recreational area. I also have a few favorite locations that I like to shoot at that I may suggest. If the weather is too hot or cold we can have the session inside using window light. Newborns are usually done at your home.

                                          { WHAT TO WEAR }

I love the natural interactions of loved ones, but will certainly guide you in the most flattering and relaxing poses to enhance your photographs. I will help you with clothing suggestions and may even  bring natural and simple props to enhance the images.  Keep clothing simple, avoid white, and stay away from any clothing with heavy graphics and written logos. Favorites are layered outfits, bare feet, and babies in their birthday suits! If there is more than one child, outfits can be similar, but it's not necessary to have them matching. I prefer shooting newborns in the nude or just their diapers or a onesie.  You can also go HERE for some family outfit suggestions.

                                     { NEWBORN SESSIONS}

What is newborn lifestyle photography?
Over the past few years,  anew style has emerged in the world of newborn photography.  Instead of fake, head in hands poses, forcing babies into unnatural poses and shoving them into baskets and buckets, I prefer capturing genuine emotions in a relaxed, home environment.  Lifestyle newborn sessions are much more relaxed and natural, capturing the baby in their natural environment and getting the raw emotion of the family with their newborn baby without the use of stuffy props.  Your session should feel like you invited me over to visit over coffee and meet your newborn (only I have a camera in hand to capture it all).
When should I have my newborn photographed?
The earlier the better.  Babies photograph best during the first 2 weeks of life but a newborn session can be done anytime during the first 3 months.
When should I schedule my newborn session?
When you and your family feel ready.  Nobody can prepare you for what life will be like when you bring your new baby home.  You may be recovering from a C-section, you may have jealous siblings, or just the overwhelming feelings of adjusting to life with a new baby.  So please, call me when YOU'RE ready.  I want to capture memories for you to look back on and cherish.
Where will the newborn session take place?
I prefer to capture newborns in their own environment in your home.  I will bring my camera and maybe a few swaddle wraps or blankets and you provide a space with a lot of natural light, such as a big window or glass doors. I am a pro at finding natural light!  Baby's nursery is a great place for photos so that I can capture the sweet details of his/her space.  The master bedroom is also a great place to capture shots of mom and dad snuggling with baby or siblings interacting with him/her.
Will I be included in the photos? What about other members of my family?
 Sure! As a new mom once myself, I remember what it feels like those first few weeks home from the hospital. In other words, I did not want to go anywhere near anyone with a camera! But I definitely regret not being in those first few pictures with my babies. I encourage all new moms and dads to be a part of the newborn photo session. The newborn session will focus mostly on the baby, but I do love a few images shot with mom and dad as well. I suggest solid color tops as it it most classic, and lighter, pastel colors work best! I will pose you in the most flattering ways and ensure that attention of the image is on your baby and your connection with him or her. Newborn sessions include mom, dad and baby.

                                                  {MY STYLE }
My style is simple and clean, with the focus on faces. I prefer close-up shots that capture expressions and let the eyes tell the story in the photo. I will take a variety of posed shots and also capture those candid moments as well. Sometimes, the best images come from those shots when the subject is looking away from the camera. I prefer to capture children and families interacting with each other over forced poses and fake smiles. All digital images are shot in color, then presented in a mix of color and black and white.  Custom Photography is an investment and I understand that this may be a big decision for you and your family. So, when you book a session with me, I believe you deserve my full focus and attention. So from setting up the day of your session, to our adventures during the session, to the after-hours spent on my computer hand-processing each image, I will work toward customizing your session to make sure you get the images you have pictured in your heart and hopefully, a few extra surprises, too.

 {AFTER THE SESSION }
 I will post a sneak peak after the session on my blog as well as sharing a selct few of my favorites on social media such as Facebook and Instagram for you to share with family and friends.  Please feel free to share these links with friends and family and use the images on social networking sites but, I ask that you not alter the images in any way, such as cropping out watermarks or adding filters. I strive my hardest to complete galleries as quick as I can and usually take 2 weeks at a minimum. Please keep this in mind when you are considering booking a session. Once proofs are done, an online gallery will be available to view and share. You will then be able to place your order online, right from your gallery using either Paypal or credit card.  All prints and products will be processed through a professional photo lab with superb image quality.  Once you place your print order and payment is made, please allow 1-2 weeks for delivery.  All images galleries will remain active for 3 months.  All print ordering must be done during that time frame.
