Olivia’s Keepsake Quilt

When I was a little girl, my aunt made me a Bonnet Sue quilt out of my mother’s maternity clothes.  I still have it, and use it to this day.  It is something that I will cherish forever.  When my own daughter was born, I started saving her baby clothes that she too quickly grew out of in hopes that one day, I would find someone to turn her clothes into a beautiful keepsake Bonnet Sue quilt of her own.  If you are a local, I am sure you know Denise James.  Most of you may know her as our Post Master but she is also famous for her extraordinary quilting skills.  Denise offered to turn Olivia’s baby clothes into a Bonnet Sue quilt for me.  I simply handed her a box of my daughter’s baby clothes and 2 months later, she revealed the finished product.  I was in tears when she showed it to me.  What a wonderful keepsake for my little girl to cherish forever!  {the heart in the middle will be filled with buttons that my grandmother had saved from my mother’s clothing over the years}
